Waters and Aga return to face Afghanistan

Seren Waters and Ragheb Aga are returning to Kenya to join the national squad for the upcoming series against Afghanistan.

The English based pair will link up with the national squad next week and be available for selection for the four day ICC Intercontinental Cup match against Afghanistan which is followed by three One Day Internationals, all to be played at Nairobi Gymkhana, and then a four game series against a UAE XI in Mombasa.

Waters, aged 20, has spent the English season representing Durham University and Surrey 2nd XI. The right hand opening batsman has represented Kenya in 12 ODI's with a top score of 74 against South Africa.

All rounder Aga is a former Kenya Under 19 captain and first played for his country against India in 2004. The 26 year-old represented Sussex during the English season but has recently parted company with the county.

Chief Executive Tom Sears said: 'It is essential that we have competition for places in our national side and the addition of Seren and Ragheb to the squad will help provide that. Both players have been playing a high standard of cricket in England and have been involved with two of the best county set ups in the English game. We hope they can share some of their experience and what they have learned with the rest of the squad as well as trying to fight their way into the starting team.

'All the players are fully aware that no-one is guaranteed a place in the team and the side will be selected purely on merit. We are trying to ensure we are selecting from as wide a pool of talent as is available to us which will help raise the standards and improve results.

'Looking ahead there are only 15 places in the World Cup squad and with the addition of players such as Seren, Ragheb and Tanmay Mishra to the national squad and the emergence of some highly talented players in our Under 19 team, players know they have to start producing consistent performances if they are to make that squad.'
