The massive target of 313 was achieved with help of superb batting display by the openings batsman of the U-19, Javid Ahmadi, who made a 50 ball century. The experienced keeper, Mohamed Shahzad contributed with 82 runs and Gulbadin Naib chaped in with a quickfire 72 runs. Husham Ibrahim was the pick of the Maldivian bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 63 runs of his 4 over spell.
In reply Maldives were all out for 132 runs in the 18th over. Mohamed Mahafooz played a scintillating innings down the order hitting an unbeaten 49 runs off 23 balls to take Maldives into double figures. For Afghanistan Merwais Ashraf was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 wickets, Dawlat Zadran took 2 wickets while Samiullah Shinwari and Hamid Hassan contributed with 1 wicket each.
Tomorrow is a rest day for Afghanistan, they'll play their next game against Buthan on Friday at 9AM Kabul time.
In the other game of day played early in the morning, Pakistan trashed India (Karnataka Institute of Cricket Team) by 149 runs.
